The palace’s name, Chowmahalla, is derived from the Persian words “Chow” meaning four, and “Mahalla” meaning palace quarters or residential areas. This reflects the palace’s architectural design, which features four distinct quadrangular areas.
The palace complex is renowned for its unique blend of Persian, Indo-Saracenic, and European architectural styles, reflecting the diverse cultural influences that shaped the Nizam’s rule over Hyderabad. It is now a popular tourist attraction, offering visitors a glimpse into the opulent lifestyle and rich heritage of the Asaf Jahi dynasty.
